I leave in a just over a month for Ghana and I am having a whirlwind of emotions. If you know me at all, you know that travel is the fire in my soul. I'm certain that God made me differently than most people. He doesn't want me to sit still. He doesn't want me to live a traditional life and settle down with a husband, 2 kids, and a dog. While sometimes that stability sounds nice (and there's nothing wrong with that), I know that isn't my calling. I love to be on the move. I don't think twice about packing my bags and running for the gate. I get a rush when I am in a new country and I am intrigued by people who have lived a different life than me. I get daily reassurance that this desire to "not sit still" isn't a fault in my character, but rather this is exactly what God was going for when He created me.
We are all called to different things. Some of us are called to business, some to be a teacher, a professional athlete, and so on. No matter what your passion is, we are all called to be bold, and God has equipped us with everything we need to succeed on our voyage. We don't have time to sit around and be worried and afraid. If I was living in fear that maybe society was right and I should learn to sit still and settle down, can you imagine the opportunities I would have missed to spread the Gospel? Once you know God's plan for you, roll with it and trust that He will never leave you or forsake you. He won't take you to the dark places without equipping you with the torch that never burns out. He won't let you struggle without filling in as your strength. We are all made differently and perfectly woven to live out what God has called us to do. Let that be your strength and your song, and remember, God created you to be brave.
