2017 Isn't My Year
I’m a month late in writing you this letter, but there are some things you have got to know. I’m done trying to do this on my own. I keep trying to solve all my problems by myself and it isn’t working. If we are going to make it though the year, I’m going to need your help.

Hey 20 something girl,
I see you trying to do everything on your own and WOW it's hard to watch. You go to coffee shops, workout, talk to friends, and you’re doing a pretty decent job of distracting your mind from the world around you. In 2016 that might have worked but it isn’t going to work this year. You don’t have to carry the weight of the world on your back and try and solve every problem on your own. It isn’t going to work and the battle isn’t really yours to fight. You need to let your pride down and speak up about the things that matter. It is okay to be weak, seriously, remember that you are human. When you are weak, you give God the opportunity to be your strength. Think about it this way. When you are struggling, you are still you, but your earthliness shrinks down. God comes in and FILLS you up so that you can continue on with your life. You allow more God into your life when you are weak and He makes you strong. Isn’t that cool? Stop trying to be strong when you aren’t strong. It’s okay to be weak, just don’t forget to invite God in. He won’t just take away your pain, He will carry it for you!
2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “Each time he said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”
Let me break that down for you:
1. God’s grace is ALL YOU NEED
2. God’s power works best when you are WEAK
3. Admit that you are weak and God will work through you!
It’s all starting to make sense. For so long I have tried to live day to day without God. I’ve only turned to Him when I thought I was pleasing Him because I have been so ashamed of the person I truly am. When I look in the mirror I see all the reasons why I am so unworthy. I am so selfish, I wander from God, I am not good enough, I am too much, I am anxious… the list could go on and on!

Hey 20 something girl,
God didn’t choose to love you because you were lovely, He loved you and then you became lovely. God designed you, all of you! He created you in His perfect image and His heart breaks when He hears you stand in front of the mirror and complain about all the things the world made you believe are ugly. You don’t have to look like a super model to have a good life. You were created exactly how you are by the master of the universe and you are more than enough to Him.
Ephesians 2:10 -"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do"
Psalm 139: 13 – “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
God sent His one and only son, Jesus, to earth to take away your pain. Jesus bared it all, pain, heartache, stress, denial, temptation, brutality. But Jesus never gave up – He never stopped talking to God and He definitely didn’t lose His faith. He knew His purpose on earth was too big to just give up and stop trying. He was the Chosen One, after all.
And you know what’s cool? God also chose you. So you aren’t Jesus, you are still important. The creator of the universe LOVES you. The God that hung every star in the sky and created heaven and earth also created you. He knew the world was missing something so He covered YOU in His fingerprints and brought you to life.
Ephesians 2:4 “Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes”
Don’t miss out on your purpose in life by trying to fit in. Set your eyes on Him this year and know that the weight of the world is not meant for you to carry. Give both your trials and your joys to God and you will be amazed at how He will reveal himself to you. See yourself through His eyes, you are more than enough.
Matthew 7:7-8 "Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened."
