Tragedy. Now What?
If you don't live under a rock, which I am assuming you don't because you have internet access to read this blog, then you know that there are tragedies happening in our world. If you focused only on the negatives, you would believe that this world is a pretty devastating place. Luckily, there is someone who wants to rid us of fear and replace our hearts with love. There is someone so mighty and so generous that He sent His one and only own son to earth so that you and I can have eternal life. How cool is that? The same God that sent His son to earth and rose Him from the dead loves YOU. He wants to totally transform your heart and set you free. God is by your side and He wants to give you and this world peace.
John 14:27 says, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (NKJV).
Why would I trust God when bad things keep on happening?
Because His love is constant. His love is unchanging. Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." (NLT)
I feel lost and alone.
Isaiah 43:2-3 "When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior."
These tragedies don't make sense and I don't understand why they keep happening.
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track."
I am living in fear. I don't feel safe going in public anymore.
Psalm 91:4 "With his feathers he will cover you, under his wings you will find safety. His truth is your shield and armor."
How can I be sure that God is real when the world makes me think otherwise?
John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world, that He sent His only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God sent the son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him."
Sometimes the world doesn't make sense. Turn on the news and I bet you will find yourself wondering where was God? You might even begin to question Him, grow angry, and ask, Why didn't you do something, God!?? Sit back, pray, and listen. Is God maybe asking YOU to go out and do something? Don't sit still anymore. Be the change. Find hope and then spread it like wildfire. Open your floodgate and let love crash over you. Remember the feeling, then pour it out to the world. Use the same love that God has given you to love others.
